It's Been Awhile!

Well it's been a few days since I last checked in! Oops! Life with 2 boys gets crazy sometimes.

Carson had his 4 month checkup on November 4th and was 15.3 pounds and 25" long. He is 50 percentile in both height and weight! This is awesome to me because at his 2 month appointment he was only 25 percentile on his height. I'm really really really hoping he doesn't get my short gene. But our doctor said that he is growing well and was actually surprised by the amount of his growth in the heighth department! She said and I quote, "He's going to give his big brother a run for his money." Can't you just see me now in our family pictures as they get older? All anyone is going to see of me is my face because the camera will have to be angled up to get them :) Maybe they will be big AND strong and just pick up Mama for pictures. HA! That's an image!   Oh on a side note, she said he was at the drooling stange and NOT teething...I beg to differ! It's been just over 2 weeks since the appointment and guess who now has 2 teeth??? The first one broke through last week and the second one broke through during the night or this morning!

We had our first family of 4 pictures the following Sunday. I just LOVE our photographer. He actually is the photographer that we hired for our wedding, Nick. He takes great and natural pictures. He's so incredibly patient with the boys and with me! He makes sure he gets all poses and pictures that I am after. Of all days for us to wear sweaters, it was that Sunday that was 72 degrees outside!!!

Did I mention that the boys did really good! Clay got tired of the pictures much quicker than he did last time, but oh well we still got some really great pics!

Thanksgiving was nice. We did my family's feast on Sunday before Thanksgiving and then the Johnson Family get-together on Thanksgiving. It was nice to have all my family together on Sunday. It had been sometime since we were all together. Unfortunately I was a loser and had a major mommy fail and didn't take any pictures :( Thursday, we were able to be a little lazy since lunch was at 3. Wes and Clayton worked on Christmas lights since it was nice and I cooked my portion of Thanksgiving. We had a great time at Mema and Pepa's house except that we all missed Sabrina (my mother-in-law). Hopefully she'll be back for Christmas though.

I will hopefully post about all the Christmas decorations in the next day or two. Along with the fun we had with our new Christmas Tree.

Until next time,

Here I sit...

I have recently been expressing that I'd like to do a Mommy and Clayton date but Clay has wanted

NOTHING to do with it! He would much rather have a family day. He doesn't generally like to be away from his little brother, which I find so sweet and hope will continue on as they get older, but then again, I'm not holding my breath on that one!

So, Tuesday Wes had to work out of town and wouldn't be home until Wednesday. My parents suggested I try for that date with my oldest again. Much to my surprise Clayton was very excited about the idea of just the two of us going out together!

All day Tuesday I just knew that when I picked him up from school, he was going to have changed his mind. Well, he didn't!!! So, we took Carson over to my parent's house and we left for our date at Chuck E. Cheese. We had a great time! He even got to see Chuck E!

Last night Wes asked Clayton if he wanted to go to the OU game and I chimed in that it could be guys day! Clay really seemed to like the idea of only Big Guys doing something together! By the time dinner was over he had decided that he didn't actually want to go, he'd rather just stay home with me. So Wes pretty much wrote off the idea. Well this morning Clayton had once again chaged his mind, SHOCKER! That boy changes his mind more often than he changes his underwear! (Okay don't get me wrong, he changes his underwear everyday, he's not dirty!)

Wes began the search for tickets this morning and luckily was able to find some! Clay of course tried to get all of us to go to the game.....he just didn't want to leave his brother again. We finally talked him back into a Daddy and Clayton day and he was good with it when they left.

The guy that he bought the tickets from told Wes that he is often on TV because of where his tickets are located (on the South end, Row 12, right by the goal!) SO here I sit looking for my Big Guys on TV!

BOOMER SOONER BABY!

Where is the time going??

Fall break has come and gone. Now, Halloween has come and gone. Where is the year going?

Before Halloween we went to a local farm for a fun family day out. Chester's Party Barn has been around for a long time, but we had never been. Clayton had a nice time and Carson slept to begin with and then just enjoyed the ride around the farm.

For Halloween Clay decided to be a fireman.
And Carson well he got to be an adorable lil' pumpkin.

I need to do something soon, maybe this weekend, to remember this point in time. I have a 4 year old and a 4 month old. I wouldn't trade them for the world. They ARE my world! I LOVE my babies!

Go to Sleep and Stay Asleep!

I'm sure by now you've heard of the book Go the F**k to Sleep. I'm not someone who uses this language...but sometimes when I have a night like last night, I think of this book!

Clayton had been doing so good going to bed until this past week. I'm not sure if it was the anticipation of going back to Ms. Salena's with his brother for a couple of days for Fall Break, or if it had to do with his allergies becoming so bad over the weekend. Whatever the cause, I sure hope we go back to easy bedtime soon.

This was how last night went: Bath and getting ready for bed, in bed, book, prayers, talk a little, time to sleep. Our newest thing is he likes to keep the lights off, including his plug-in fish tank, if the tank is on, the door is closed. So he says that he wants the door closed and wants to read a book and that he will turn off the fish tank when he's done reading and then open the door. This is fine. I leave his room and 10 minutes later, "Mommy, I need you, I'm scared." OH Great! Here we go! I go in and he wants me to color with him! NO it's bed time! Cover him up and goodnight. I get barely out the door and he's got to go to the bathroom. Then he wanted me to lay with him....well, I think you get the picture! That book is coming more and more to my mind!!!!! Finally after almost an hour, he's in bed asleep!

My baby that has been such a great night time sleep is apparently tapping into his Big Brother! Carson has been eating soooo much lately (31oz +) that you'd think he'd be in a food coma, but no, he's still hungry and he's making sure that I'm well aware of it.

He used to take his last bottle of the night around 6:30 or 6:45 and then go to bed around 7 and sleep are you ready for this until 5:30! (He's been doing this since right at 2 months old too!!) Last week he began waking up a little bit earlier every night until Wednesday night he woke up at 1am and 6 am then last night it was 11:45 and 4:40. I've tried cereal in the bottle and it only seems to hurt his little belly, and then he doesn't sleep. He won't eat it the cereal by spoon and acts as if it is the most disgusting thing he has ever eatten. I'm at my whits end! Nothing I do seems to make him full longer or help him.

I called our Pediatrician's Office today and they have now suggested to up his ant-acid medicine and to try oatmeal instead of the rice cereal. She feels like the spoon is causing a lot of the problems and if he can get used to the feel of it and the hang of the spoon then he will be fine and we can start more foods in the next few weeks. That is, IF he can get used to the dang spoon!

I sure hope we can get Carson food to start sustaining him longer because I know he really needs the night time sleep for development and for my sanity!

Finally, my note to Mr. Clayton.....You are tired, you don't realize it, but you are and as much as I would love to sit and talk with you all night, I'm tired too baby. I also need rest. So, please, just GO TO SLEEP!!!  Love, Mama

Until next time! ~Tiffany

Can't we all just be healthy?

So, last Friday started the sickness in our house and it apparently has taken up residency :(

Clayton caught the oh so lovely stomach bug Friday around 12:30 am and that lead to the two of us up most of the night. Once we made a pallet in our room for him, Wes was able to get some sleep so he could get up around 5 to feed Carson. Due to a very mopey boy, the weekend was pretty much toast.

Along comes Monday. Wes realizes that his ear is starting to hurt, so he makes a doctor's appointment for Tuesday. Wake up Tuesday morning and guess who has the stomach bug now!

Thursday I had to start the humidifier for Carson who is stuffy. To my surprise it seems to be working. (I always felt like it made Clayton worse)

Just when you think all is going back to normal, I woke up Friday with a severe sore throat. Made it though the Carvnival on meds. Saturday, no better, so I made a trip to the clinic and am told I have a sinus infection (shocker!) and bronchitus. Get home around 8 after getting my perscriptions and realize that Clay probably needs to go to the doctor too. Poor boy had almost lost his voice and had such a lovely cough.

Wes let me sleep in this morning, which was sooo great! I feel a bit better today, but it's looking more like I'm going to have to take Clayton into the doctor tomorrow.

Maybe one day very soon, we will all be healthy again. At least I hope there is hope isn't there?!

Carnival Time

Friday was the Fall Carnival at Clay's school and boy did he have a blast! They had a moon bounce, an enormous moon bounce slid and some kind of moon bounce caterpillar. They also had a bunch of games inside. (I think a lot of them are the same exact games and game boards that were used when I went to school there!)

I signed up to help with the Pre-K booth....little did I know that it was face painting! If you know me at all, you know I'm not artistically creative and definitely don't paint! To my surprise, they had lots of stamps! That's my kind of painting!!!

Carson was great, as usual...he slept almost the entire time!

Finally!

After much deliberation, I've decided to start a blog! Now I just have to figure it all out.

For now, I'll just say, "Here I am!"

I'm hoping this blog will act as a journal for our family since I'm absolutely horrible at writing an actual journal. I hope I get the hang of all this soon!
